Our Story

My name is Michelle and wow what a fantastic adventure it has been. I grew up in the Drakensberg, where my family still farm in the foothills of the majestic Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg.

More then 20 years ago my parents started the much loved Valley Bakery where I spent many a school holiday and a lot of my time growing up in and around. As they say I come from baking stock. Today that little bakery of 20 years has grown into a firm family favorite and my Mom, Sister and Sister in-law run and take care of it. My Father, Brother and Brother in-law farm crops and livestock, one of they key ingredients is our flour coming from the wheat they grow in the foothills.

I am a trained artist by trade. In 2009 after traveling the world for many years, I returned with my husband to the family farm, there I spent the next 2 years working in the bakery where I discovered my passion and love in crafting cakes as well as perfecting my skills in baking the many other products that the bakery produces. In 2011 we relocated to Johannesburg and I decided to go into business for myself making cakes, one thing lead to another and a few thousand cakes later, here you find me.

In late 2014 we decided to formalize the business into a fully functional bakery and coffee shop.

It is my pleasure to welcome you, I look forward to baking for you.
